I met Ben seven years ago at a pub in Highgate and he proposed to me in the whispering gallery of St Paul’s Cathedral. My mother sang for the Royal Philharmonic Choir and my grandfather was an Anglican priest so it was important for us to have a church service with a lot of music.
I had always envisioned a Narnia-styled wedding and when we found Aynhoe Park with its taxidermy, the Christmas trees indoors, tumbling ivy, roaring fireplaces and candles everywhere – the dream came true!
My mother trained at Jane Packer when she was younger and worked with Achillea Flowers to arrange the beautiful array of ivy trails, majolica roses, ochre roses and anemones. We kept the colour scheme very simple with whites and greys.
We love Spanish cooking and had wild boar & guinea fowl terrine to start, followed by slow-cooked Iberico pork cheeks. For late-night snacks, we arranged a Texas-style barbeque and hired a mixologist to create a bespoke cocktail menu for the day that went down a treat!
My top tip: Sneak off for 15 minutes. Straight after the service, we had a glass of Champagne and some canapes in the study and it was so special to take those few minutes alone together to revel in the fact that we had just got married.
